Geeks and Nerds

Though I always thought they refer to the same thing, according to Nina there is a ton of a difference between geeks and nerds... As she pointed out when she was proving that I was a total geek.

Acc to her a geek is one who has ‘The geekiness in him’ reminding me of a line from star wars “The geekiness is strong in him.” And a nerd is someone who tries hard to be a geek. Wow lucky she dint say I was a nerd.

All my short adult life I have been fighting to get rid of the label of being a GEEK. I have finally given up. Playing sports, riding bikes, doing adventure sports, girls, etc.. nothing you do will cover up the fact. The more you try to hide it the more it manifests itself. It is an inborn feeling and I repeat THERE IS NO CURE.

I finally decided that the only way to get rid of this double life is come out of the closet and accept your fate and confess..

10 Top reasons why I am a Geek(note even this is in a point wise fashion):

1. The name of the blog “Tension=10n”. This is a default geek name. Who else will name their blog with the force he used in his seminar.

2. I have watched the old Starwars about 15 times and the new ones about 5 times.

3. In my sisters marriage wanted to play lateral thinking games with kids. When all they wanted to do was burst ballons.

4. I went to IIT..the headquarters of the geeks. Geeks never feel left out there, they co-exist with other geeks in peace over there and discuss complex abstract issues life why they don’t have a girl in their life.

5. Google(Sunith if you are reading this its “Your favorite search engine”.. some Yahoo Google rivalry thing.) out everything and lookup everything and anything on the net. From ‘generation of correlated random numbers’ to my name..

6. I read LOTR about 15 times and still plan do read it once more when I have the time and believe me I actually read the book before the movie came out and back then the book actually came out in 2 book set.

7. I watch foreign language films with subtitles.. Not stopping I also watch Foreign language soaps in FFwd.. I also prefer watching movies at home on my comp than go to the theater(exceptions when beautiful women are around). When I watch them I keep going Fwd and Back. People get mad when I keep doing this.

8. I watch a lot or Anime and actually read manga, I watched almost all of the manga on the insti servers and at one point of time was a real active downloader. The arbitest thing I ever saw was on bread making. I still cant figure out why someone wanted to make an anime on bread making.

9. I like my job and love working on new projects and learning more and more stuff about it. I actually am happy on a Monday morning.

10. Aaaand finally coming to the most important factor. I am 23 years old living away from parents, don’t have an iota of any other responsibility and “I dont have a girl”

Incase you have more than 3 qualities in this you my friend are a geek and welcome to the brotherhood. Don’t feel ashamed for ours is a superior life.
